Module 4.1 – Notebook LM Audio Podcast

The Audio below was created using Notebook LM. The initial source is a YouTube video titled ‘What is the SAM Model of Instructional Design’ by Tim Slade.

Creating this audio podcast was very easy. I found a YouTube video I wanted to work with, and it was as simple as copying the link and pasting it into the correct area. After a few minutes, it produced the audio for me.

Overall, it did a good job synthesizing the content, but the most significant downside was that the length was more than double that of the video. After a certain point, I would rather listen to the audio from the original video.

This is particularly useful when trying to make something that’s more ‘dry’ to read or listen to more engaging, such as listening to it as a conversation, even if it’s AI-generated. I can definitely see myself using this in the future to convert texts into audio that I may not have the time to read, but I will be able to listen to while working on other tasks.
